Background: Thyroid swellings are one of the most common cases that present in surgical OPD. In general thyroid surgeries associated with an extremely low mortality rate, though dangerous and life threatening complications such as respiratory distress haemorrhage have been reported infrequently. Most can be avoided proper precautions techniques. Aim: To study incidence prevalence after total thyroidectomy.Materials Methods: Patients obvious were included a prospective which was conducted for year tertiary centre. Various entities like clinical examination, ultrasonological studies tissue diagnosis included.Results: this study, 50 patients, much higher age distribution between 30-40 years about 48 percent. It found there female predominance, when compared to male gender percentage 84%. About 34% patients clinically diagnosed diffuse goitre, 29% multinodular 25% carcinoma thyroid, 12% solitary nodule. population only 10 complications. Out who developed post operative period, complication hypocalcemia. Which noted 4 8%, 2 (4%) voice change seen 1 patient wound infection RLN palsy. Conclusion: on studied. Only The hypocalcemia followed by haemorrhage. transient recurrent laryngeal nerve injury within acceptable limits. Incidence minimal. Complications sequelae surgery yet reduced careful evaluation medical therapeutic options, more precise indications, thorough knowledge anatomy, rigorous technique, systematic dissection parathyroid gland.
